The (not so) Spectacular Now

            “The Spectacular Now,” an indie film starring Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller, was released in the fall of 2013. It is a dark “coming of age” story that focuses on the romantic relationship between the two main characters, Aimee and Sutter, who are both high school seniors. This movie had a baffling number of missteps both as a whole and particularly related to feminism and it’s representation of women.

Jason Derulo’s newest single, “Talk Dirty to Me” Featuring 2 Chainz is currently sitting at number three on billboard’s top 100, the accompanying music video has over 133 MILLION views, and it is quickly becoming the newest constantly on the radio or in your head party anthem. The Fault in Our Stars

John Green’s young adult novel, The Fault in Our Stars has been making a splash ever since its release in 2012 and the movie adaptation of the story is scheduled to come out this June. The book is about Hazel, a sixteen year old girl diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and her relationship with the charming, seventeen year old boy Augustus Waters, who lost one of his legs to cancer. This story revolves around their relationship, and the struggles that come with their illnesses.

Ever since the response to the PINK “rape panties” by the feminist group “Pink Loves Consent” 2 years back, new takes on the idea have been cropping up. From Amulya Sanagavarapu’s Feminist Style to Anthony Hall’s Period Panties, Kickstarter has been full of people trying to make it big in the themed underwear industry.
